About My Name
My name is Maria; it is said to be the most common girls' name in all Spanish-speaking countries and the favorite form of Mary from Italy to Austria to Eastern Europe, Maria has also been a constantly used name in the upper-class Anglo families. Two queens of England have had this name, as well as a Queen of Scotland, Mary Queen of Scots, and several queens of Portugal. The name Maria has Latin, Spanish, Italian, and Hebrew origins; the meaning of this name is not known for certain, but some people say it means: "Sea of Bitterness", "Star of the sea", "rebelliousness" and "The perfect one".
My mom gave me this name because she says it was her great grand mother's name and she wanted to pass it down to another generation in our family; besides, she really liked the name, and since we are Catholics she wanted to give me the name of the Virgin Mary.
