Abortion
The Merriam-Webster Online Dictionary defines abortion as “the termination of a pregnancy…induced expulsion of a human fetus…monstrosity.” Not only is abortion immoral and unethical, but it is murder. There have been many debates world wide regarding the virtue in abortion, however, in the end, abortion is still, and will continue to be wrong in a number of ways. The act of abortion obviously violates religious beliefs and contradicts the laws of murder as outlined in the United States Constitution. Many women want abortions for a number of reasons that may be perceived as understandable, however, as previously stated, abortion is wrong in any instance or point in time. It matters not how people attempt to justify the acts of abortion. The morality of terminating a human fetus, and ridding an unborn child of a fruitful, fulfilling existence, violates any logical methods of thinking.
In the New King James version of the Bible, Luke, chapter 1, verse 14 reads: “And thou shalt have joy and gladness; any many shall rejoice at his birth.” This scripture is unquestionably interpreted as condemning abortions after fetal viability. It states that man and woman should be happy in the conception and eventual birth of a child, rather than committing the sin of murder and killing the unborn fetus that would bring them utmost joy. People who are against abortion believe in a “pro-life” way of thought; they believe in allowing all people to live and enjoy life as the higher being intended them to. “Most people who are “pro-life” also believe that a newly formed zygote is indeed a human being and should be protected and treated as such. The zygote, although newly formed and small, has the same rights as any fully functioning human being of any age: the most obvious is the right to life.
