Aboriginal Culture

INTRODUCTION.

According to many books of research aboriginals originated from Asia and walked from there to Australia when the land mass was once all connected. Today we are unsure from where they came from but Asia is a best bet. They have been existing for around 60,000 years according to scholar James Bowler of Australian research centre N.S.W.

The problems started when the first European settlers first arrived in Australia in the year 1788.The Aboriginals misunderstood the Europeans when they gave them goods. They thought that the goods were to pass through the land but the Europeans gave them a trade of goods for the land and this was a major upset as it led to war and killings. And since the Aboriginals misunderstood the European settlers they were frightened and the result was a clash between Europeans and aboriginals. The result of dead people was 20,000 aboriginals and 2,000 white European settlers.

Most of the times the Aboriginals would share food and positions with the European settlers and exchange women and other goods but the Europeans failed to give anything back in return so the aboriginals retaliated from neglect that the European settlers shun at them. When the first European settlers arrived back in 1788, they described the aboriginals as harmful and cannibalistic. But all the aboriginal people wanted was love, peace and unity and a place for them to live happily and not be destroyed by European settlers that were land greedy.

In some way European scientists said that the aboriginal community looked and ranked in the evolution scale somewhere between monkeys and humans which in our day today is a major upset for aboriginal people living in Australia.
