A Life Experience
In my own life, my childhood was filled with a number of different risk and potential factors. Some of the biggest risk factors were the fact that we were low income and did not have a lot of money, therefore I was surrounded by an Setting in which I was exposed to neighbourhoods where many children did not become resilient and often turned to crime or drug use to cope with their environment of poverty. I swore as a kid that I would turn out different then the many kids that lived around my house. Here lies were the story Begins.
When I started high school I was going to a place called Shaughnessy High. This was not like most high school this was among only one other school like it in Calgary. Shaughnessy was for the students that had learning disabilities. Drug users, over Flow from other schools, and other medical problems. I was there because it was my designated school and I had like many students Learning Disability. Little did I know that the school was going to have an impact on my life that would change everything.
First term had stated and everything was fine or so I thought I was sick a lot and I did like school. I was a straight A+ student in Elementary and Junior High. I started out going everyday then I started getting to know people and making friends. I guess I was making friends with the bad crowd because I started doing things I should not. I was skipping school, Smoking Pot, and Disrespecting my parents and teachers. I was lying to the people I loved, Cheating on School work, and forgetting about what I promised myself. I had gotten my First Report card and that when I realized if I wanted to do something with my life I had to smarten up. I had just barely passed my classes. I wanted to own my own Daycare and work with children but with the grades I was getting I know I was going to have to change.
