How the 1960 Presidential Elections Are Similar to the 2008 Presidential Elections
During The Cold War in 1960, the U.S presidential elections were going on. Either J.F.K or Richard Nixon would become the 35th President of the United States of America. It is one of the most memorable events in history, and the world first telecasted presidential election. In 2008 the new presidential elections have begun, the race between B.Obama and J.Macain. This is said to be one of the most important elections in American history because of the war in the Middle-East and the current economic status of America, many banks have gone bankrupt and more people out of work, and the global economy has dropped ferociously. The 2008 presidential elections between B.Obama and J.Macain are very similar to the 1960 election between Richard Nixon and J.F.K. John Fitzgerald Kennedy was born on 29 of May 1917 in Massachusetts. J.F.K graduated from Harvard University in 1940. He joined the army after he graduated and was in the navy during the World War II. J.F.K joined politics in 1946 inspired and supported by his farther Joseph, and won election as a Democrat to the US House of Representatives. In 1952 he was elected to the senate. In 1960 Kennedy won the party's presidential nomination and defeated Richard Nixon in the subsequent election. At 43, he was the country's youngest president as well as its first Catholic head of state. He presented himself as a youthful president for a new generation.
Richard Milhous Nixon was born in California on 9 January 1913. He studied law and joined a law firm in his home state. In 1940, he married Patricia Ryan and they had two daughters. During World War Two, Nixon served with the US Navy in the Pacific. Nixon was elected to Congress in 1946 and in 1950 he won a seat in the Senate, representing California.
