10 Things I Hate About You

In our society, more and more teenagers start to date because they think they are old enough to handle.
Many times parents feel that teens should be able to date, because they’ll date eventually, sooner or later. But a large number of parents still tend to protect teens and worry about that whether teens aren’t mature enough. William Shakespeare’s play “The Taming of the Shrew” and its modern adaption “Ten Things I Hate about You” utilize character development to portray the idea that parents need keep the balance for teenagers on romantic relationships

In movie “Ten Things I Hate about you”, the dad doesn’t allow his daughters, Kat and Bianca to date.
Despite they share the same parents, their personalities are polar opposites. Kat used to be very popular, she even was the really handsome guy Joey’s girlfriend. But she feels sick about the whole sociality now and becomes a rebel. In her guidance counselor’s words, she’s a “heinous bitch”. On the other hand, Bianca’s popular and pretty and she has two suitors, cute guy Joey and Cameron. Cameron, the new kid in school, falls for Bianca at first sight and tries to ask her out. The problem is that Bianca’s dad has strictly ruled that “Bianca goes date when Kat gets one”. Obviously, there’s no clue shows someone may date the bitch Kat or she has someone in mind. Joey and Cameron find out a potential date for Kat, Patrick, the well-known bad boy. Joey uses his wealth to intrigue Patrick. But he’s the perfect choice, not only he needs cash, but he’s as scary as Kat. After Kat finds out that Bianca dates with Joey, Kat tells her that she used to Joey’s girlfriend, they even had sex, but Joey dumped her only because she didn’t want to go further any more. So Bianca picks the one who really likes her, Cameron. The dad undergoes a gradual change that he realizes that his daughters are mature enough to date, so he gives total permission to them.
